This App has been designed to serve as a resource for all Healthcare Professions in their pursuit of Lifelong Learning initiatives. Lifelong Learning (L3) at the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, University of Alberta, is striving to create a comprehensive, new vision of lifelong learning – promoting learning as a continuum, that is competency and quality based as well as patient-centred. The ultimate goal is to align learning with quality.
In order to ensure learning is aimed at improving patient care, population health and health care quality, we must ensure all health care professionals engage effectively in a process of lifelong learning that is holistic - incorporating a broad variety of learning methods and theories, is learner driven and allows learning and quality improvement activities to be tailored to an individual’s needs.
L3 is determined to provide personalized learning and quality improvement opportunities for all health-care professionals, geared towards changing and optimizing health care quality and patient outcomes. In doing so, it will endeavour to inspire collaboration across organizational boundaries at local, provincial, national and international levels.
L3 is leading the development of evidence-based educational interventions that use innovative techniques and new enabling technology in order to encourage knowledge translation as a dynamic and iterative process, and using ethically sound application of knowledge to improve patient and health care quality outcomes.
